You can use your bench throughout the game, bringing in new players with the desired skills. There are two basic styles of play: arcade and simulation. The arcade mode relies depends very little on player stats and gets you straight to soccer action. The simulation mode relies more on strategy, forcing you to try and put together a group of guys who will help win you some games. Either style of play is available for use in a friendly game, league play, or the cup mode, which is a single-elimination tournament. Beginners may want to enter the practice mode and brush up on their fundamentals before facing competition.
