For many of the hardcore video game-playing legion of football fans the name Miles Jacobson sits up there alongside Brian Clough and Roy of the Rovers. Football Manager 09 is the next star performer to emerge from the watchful managership of Jacobson and his Sports Interactive label. The biggest and most obvious advance this year has taken a massive three years to bring to the PC. It’s also taken some help along the way from Sega Japan’s Virtua Striker team. Yes, it’s the 3D in-game action for Football Manager 2009. This comes in not to rid the game of its classic 2D, quick-info system, but to compliment it. That’s if you’re going to have time to watch the on-pitch action while you are trying to juggle with the 5,000 clubs in the 51 countries with the 350,000 players and staff you’ve got to organise – this is what you get when you put 1,500 researchers into one football management game. And that’s what Sports Interactive has done. Now, traditionalists might want to sit down here because among the new features – such as Pre-match and in-match feedback from your Assistant Manager; the ability to watch your matches in new full screen TV view; improved interaction with your worst enemies (and most valued allies) the media… there is also the ability to play as a female manager! Superb stuff for the Football Manager Season ahead.

Based on award-winning director Peter Jackson's big-budget remake of the landmark 1933 Cooper and Schoedsack film, this video game version of King Kong is designed to convey the action and excitement the massive monster inspires, as well as the poignancy and emotion of the melancholy 'beauty and the beast' storyline. Gameplay comes in two styles:...
