It wouldn’t be a big, splashy, blockbuster film release without the obligatory game tie-in, would it? Spider-Man 3 is no exception. The good news is that where movie licenses generally have a reputation for lazy development, games based on the Spider-man films have a reputation for quality and good, wholesome fun. While Activision’s promising fun this time around, we can’t promise that it’ll necessarily be wholesome. Spider-Man 3 marks the appearance of the black costume. If you don’t speak nerd, the black costume is a symbiotic life form that enhances Spidey’s speed, strength and agility. The bad news is that it has some rather nasty effects on his personality, making him act like a dork. Don’t worry though. The unveiling of Spidey’s dark side doesn’t mean you’ll be playing through hours of him fighting his inner demons and emotional turmoil, oh no. As well as the film’s villains, the Sandman, the Hobgoblin and Venom, you’ll take on Spidey classics such as The Scorpion, The Lizard, The Kingpin, Kraven the Hunter and more. The Wii version offers up the platform’s unique control system to take players closer to the action than ever. Using the Wii’s motion sensing you’ll be able to get a better grip over web-slinging than has ever been offered on a console. It’s so lifelike that you may want to climb up a building and try it. But don’t. It’ll end badly, we assure you.

Gameplay comes in two styles:...
