Urban Chaos: Riot Response is a combat game in which you play the role of Nick Mason (what, him out of Pink Floyd? – Ed.) a member of the dynamically-named T-Zero – an elite section of law enforcement, wouldn’t you know. The last line of defence in case of trouble in the towns and cities, T-Zero is trained to deal with all aspects of urban unrest. And boy, do they have their work cut out for them in Urban Chaos: Riot Response! Your character is recruited by T-Zero and thrown in at the deep end, charged with taking on and defeating the gangs who are bringing the city to its knees. T-Zero’s great strength is taking the fight to the enemy. Weapons, though not too popular with civilians, are essential to restoring order. Weapons issued as standard (side arms, stun guns, smoke grenades etc.) are not the only ones you get to use: walking over floored and formerly tooled-up gang members enables you to pick up their weapon too – and that could be anything from a meat cleaver to a circular saw. It’s not all about carnage however; sometimes a non-lethal takedown is a good move, in order to gather intelligence from surviving gang members. Urban Chaos: Riot Response has a BBFC18 rating and rightly so. The combat gets really brutal at times, and the language is largely fruity too. Not for the kids, this one. But then again, the kids are probably out there doing this for real anyway!
