Threats and revelations pile up, as this sci-fi adventure by Masami Obari, the director of Battle Arena Toshiden, continues. In the war against the Virus, Serge and his fellow S.T.A.N.D. officers are taunted by a sardonic jokester in a cyclops mask who identifies himself as ‘The Brain Lizard.’ Mirei is infected with the Virus when she attempts to track a cyber-murderer, but she’s saved by a group of her old friends and fellow hackers. S.T.A.N.D. captures another hacker, Ryu, who used to be a buddy of Serge’s. He reveals that S.T.A.N.D.’s star officer is the clone of an old scientist, Dr. Milan Treyn. Obari once again tries to disguise the cheapness of the animation with aggressive cutting, dramatically lit shadows, and flamboyant colors, but it’s obvious that the artists can’t even keep the characters on model.
