Women of the World Festival – Rotherham

Rotherham council held the Women of the World (WOW) festival in town on Sat, 11th May 2024. The event is a network of arts festivals that celebrate the achievements of women and girls as well as highlighting the obstacles that face them, and is part of a global feminist movement. The WOW Foundation spearheads the festivals and forms partnerships to hold WOW festivals across the world, including our town, Rotherham in South Yorkshire, England. There were a number of events across the town: Upper Millgate / Bridgegate, Festival Hub – All Saint’s Square, Rotherham Central Community Hub – College Street, High Street Stage, Over the Rainbow Cafe – High Street, ROAR ArtSpace, Imperial Shop Unit – Market Place, Imperial Pavillion, Minster Gardens, Rotherham Minister and Minister Yard. Sadly, working all day at the Guild of Games, on the High Street meant we could only witness what was happening outside the shop. Below is our very limited view of the Rotherham WOW festival.

The acts / groups on stage included Zumba, Rotherham Recovery, Anneka Shelley, Lois, Rhiannon Scutt, Ken Lambert and DJ Kavita. Below are a few snippets of what took place.
