As well as bursting to life in cinemas, the Cat’s peculiar brand of adventures are also heading to PS2 courtesy of Vivendi Universal Games, giving younger players and Dr. Seuss fans everywhere the chance to explore the off beat world of the book and film, and interact with characters such as Thing 1, Thing 2 and the Fish. Based on the 2003 film starring Mike Myers in the title role, Dr. Seuss’ The Cat in the Hat has users guiding the playful feline as they interact with a wild assortment of colorful characters, including Thing 1, Thing 2, the Fish, and a few new surprises. The game follows the plot of the film, in which a young lad named Conrad is tricked by his neighbour into opening the Cat’s big red box of magic. This allows said magic to run riot and cause havoc in the real world, and it’s up to the Cat to help Conrad and his sister Sally return the magic to its box and retrieve the three pieces of the ‘Crab Lock’ so they can keep it there for good. To help him in his quest, the Cat has a range of whacky abilities at his disposal, including the Umbrella Glide, the Hat-Shield Bounce and the Bubble Goo Gadget. Although it’s based closely on the film, the game actually goes further, letting you explore rooms of the house that don’t feature in the movie, making it a must for Dr. Seuss fans of all ages. Players will use the Cat’s Umbrella Glide, Hat-Shield Bounce, and Bubble Goo Gadget while traversing 20 levels set in the whimsical world of Dr. Seuss.
