Tiger Woods PGA Tour 13 sees the return of the PGA golf franchise with all new features, courses and golfers using EA Sports physics and graphics engines. It also brings a whole new mode called the Tiger Legacy Challenge. This stand-out new mode sees the gamer follow Tiger’s career from the beginning right up to date by playing through the following eras. Toddler Years – During these events, the gamer plays as Tiger between the ages of 2-6. It introduces players to the new swing mechanics Early Years – Between 1983 and 1986, this sees Tiger between the ages of 7-10 and includes Tiger’s first golf tournaments including the Junior World Championship. Junior Years – From 1988 to 1991 at the ages of 12-15, Tiger has to win each age group of the Junior World Golf Championships. These events incorporate various audio distractions while playing, which Tiger’s father used in real life to help him train and hone his skills. Amateur Years – This era focuses on Tiger at the ages of 18-20 as the gamer plays through the U.S. Amateur Championships, as well as Tiger’s first Masters Tournament, and College Invitational. Rookie Years – Ages 21 and 22, and the player plays as Tiger in the PGA Tour including the Masters, his first President’s Cup and hitting a hole in one at TPC Scottsdale on the famous hole 16. Tiger Slam – The years between 2000 and 2001 at the ages of 24 and 25 saw Tiger win four majors in a row; this mode includes a challenge to match Tiger’s putt at the 2001 Players Championship on the 17th island green at TPC Sawgrass. The Pro’ Years – the player takes Tiger forward through the years 2002 and 2008 including the FedEx Cup. The Present Day – Including the 2010 Ryder Cup, 2011 Presidents Cup, and the beginning of fictional events that lead up to the ultimate goal of winning 19 majors. The Future – This section includes major events that are in the future such as the 2014 U.S. Open at Valhalla and the 2015 British Open at St. Andrews. Record Books – The final era ends with Tiger chasing down his 19th major on his way to breaking Jack Nicklaus’ record. As well as the new mode, the game sees new shot modes with: ‘Swing Tempo’ where the tempo and speed of the swing directly influences the power of the shot. Fast tempo adds more distance to shots. Slow tempo results in less distance. ‘Shot Setup’ enables the player to create all possible shot types from one shot setup. The all-new ‘Strike Meter’ enables the gamer to place the sweet spot of their club where they wish to hit the ball; use low and high strikes to alter power, spin and trajectory. The ‘Swing Arc’ acts as a guide to execute swings with the proper power, trajectory and shot shape. All of these modes come with all new animations using the latest version of EA’s ANT animation system, that enable the player to see in real-time whether their swing is on or off plane. All of this comes with full support for the PlayStation Move controller system.
